Anxiety

Anxiety is a normal part of life that usually dissipates. We can feel anxious when faced with potentially harmful situations because this is our brains way of warning signs that we need to be aware of potential dangers around us as a protective respons. Disordered feelings of anxiety are prolonged and can increase over time. These symptoms can interfere with daily activities such as work, school, relationships, and sleep. There are a variety of factors that could contribute to why someone is experiencing anxiety related symptoms.

Anxiety can be associated with some of the following:

  • Abuse of any kind

  • Death of someone close

  • Bullying or social exclusion

  • Academic related issues

  • Change in sleep patterns

  • Housing insecurity

  • Being stressed about work

  • Family dynamics or relationship issues

  • Financial troubles

  • Life transitions

  • Experiencing discrimination

  • Being in a cluttered space

  • Health-related issues/recent diagnosis

  • Self-esteem issues
